After reading
several reviews of the
LN46B650, Samsung's mid-range high performance LCD TV, I couldn't wait
to get my hands on one and give it a test drive. And I have
to admit, I wasn't disappointed. The quality of the picture
is excellent and just look at the features Samsung has included in this
package:
-
120
HZ refresh rate for improved
motion resolution and less blurring
-
Dejudder
processing for even better
picture control
-
Yahoo!
Widgets incuding weather,
news, stocks, Flickr, Yahoo Video, poker, trivia, Sudoku and Twitter
-
Onboard
content including recipes,
workout guides and games
-
Easy
to read, user friendly menu
-
Screen
fit which allows you to scale
the picture to perfectly fit the size of the screen
-
Picture-In-Picture
-
4
HDMI ports
-
2
Component-video inputs
-
1
VGA PC input
-
1
RF input for cable or satellite
-
1
Ethernet connection
-
2
USB ports
And so much more I don't even know where to begin. But let's
talk about the quality of the picture because that's really what it's
all about, isn't it? All those special features included in
the Samsung LN46B650 LCD TV mean nothing if your viewing experience
isn't up to par. And let me tell you, I wasn't
disappointed.
I first decided to watch Moulin Rouge. I've always loved the
colors in that movie but on my Emerson I can't make out a lot of the
scenery because it has such a dark, gothic background.
Because of it high definition primary and secondary color controls, the
Samsung LN46B650 LCD TV made the colors in the dance hall scenes blast
from the screen. As brilliant as the colors were though, they
were also very realistic and I felt like I was watching my movie at the
theater.
While the contrast in the darker scenes seemed to have a bit of a blue
cast to it, it was still much better than my Emerson and the brilliance
of the color more than made up for this one minor flaw.
One feature that I'm really enjoying is the Yahoo! Widgets.
While there's not a whole lot of variety I'm sure there will be in the
very near future. But they're a welcome distraction for when
you're watching a television program with commercials. The
downside is the load time which averages between 20 and 45 seconds, and
dealing with log-ins and passwords is tedious, too. But this
isn't a laptop, it's a television and the technology is still
relatively new.
My favorite feature those is the USB connectivity. Using a
thumb drive I can download movies, pictures, slideshows, and music and
play it right on my Samsung LN46B650 LCD TV. Or I can even
connect directly to my laptop. I recently downgraded my cable
TV service to the bare minimum and I've been watching a lot of my
favorite TV programs online but my laptop has such a small
screen. Now I can just connect to my laptop and watch my
programs, in perfect color by the way, on my Samsung.
All in all I'm very pleased with my Samsung LN46B650 LCD TV . The price
tag is around $1300. The color alone makes it well worth the money for
me. And when you add in all the extra features, including the
Yahoo! Widgets and the ease of connecting to other mediums, the Samsung
is the best viewing experience for my money.
